Soft, chewy, and lightly sweet โ Kutsinta is a classic Filipino steamed rice cake with a rich caramel color and deliciously sticky texture, perfect with fresh grated coconut.
๐งพ Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar ๐ฏ
2 cups water ๐ง
1 tsp lye water
1 tsp annatto powder or food coloring
1/2 cup tapioca flour
Grated coconut for topping ๐ฅฅ

1. ๐ฅฃ Dissolve sugar
In a bowl, mix brown sugar and water until dissolved.
2. ๐พ Mix dry ingredients
Add flour and tapioca flour. Stir until smooth with no lumps.
3. ๐จ Add color & texture
Mix in annatto powder and lye water.
4. ๐ง Fill molds
Grease small molds lightly and pour batter about 3/4 full.
5. โจ๏ธ Steam
Steam for 35โ40 minutes until firm and glossy.
6. โ๏ธ Cool slightly
Allow kutsinta to cool before removing from molds.
7. ๐ฅฅ Serve
Top generously with fresh grated coconut.
