Cheesy Hamburger Steak Skillet

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Skillet Sauce:
1 large onion, sliced
1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 1 tablespoon water)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Fresh parsley for garnish
Directions:
Prepare the Hamburger Steaks:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 oval-shaped patties.
Cook the Steaks:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Prepare the Skillet Sauce:
In the same skillet, sautΓ© the onions and bell peppers until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup, bringing it to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce.
Combine and Add Cheese:
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.
