Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Garlic Mayo

Ingredients:
– 1 lb (450g) ribeye steak, thinly sliced
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
– 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
– 4 slices provolone cheese
– 4 hoagie rolls
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Garlic Mayo:
– 1/2 cup mayonnaise
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon lemon juice
– Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Garlic Mayo:
– In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
– Mix well until smooth and set aside.
2. Cook the Vegetables:
– Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
– Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper, sautéing until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
– Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
3. Cook the Steak:
– In the same skillet, increase the heat to medium-high.
– Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak, seasoning with salt and pepper.
– Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is browned and cooked through.
4. Combine Steak and Vegetables:
– Return the sautéed onions and peppers to the skillet with the steak.
– Mix everything together and heat for an additional minute.
5. Assemble the Sandwiches:
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
– Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through.
– Place the steak and vegetable mixture into each roll, then top with a slice of provolone cheese.
– Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. Serve:
– Remove the sandwiches from the oven and spread the garlic mayo on the inside of each roll.
– Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
