Juicy Hamburger Steak Drenched in Savory Onion Gravy
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp olive oil
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp thyme
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined and form into four patties.
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the hamburger steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.
Add the remaining butter and olive oil to the skillet. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly, then add Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Simmer for 5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spoon the gravy over them, cover, and simmer for another 10 minutes.
