Italian Meatball Spaghetti Stack

Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:
– 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
– 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1 egg
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the Spaghetti:
– 12 oz spaghetti
– 3 cups marinara sauce
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 2 tbsp olive oil

For Garnish:
– Fresh basil or parsley, chopped

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:
– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. Prepare the Meatballs:
– In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
– Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until fully cooked and browned.

3. Cook the Spaghetti:
– Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and toss with olive oil to prevent sticking.

4. Assemble the Spaghetti Stack:
– In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer the cooked spaghetti evenly on the bottom. Pour 2 cups of marinara sauce over the spaghetti and toss lightly.
– Arrange the cooked meatballs on top of the spaghetti. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs.

5. Add the Cheese:
– Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese evenly over the dish.

6. Bake:
– Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7. Serve:
– Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot. Slice into squares for a layered, stacked presentation.
